Why do you exist? Is it to do what you're doing right now? Counting down the days till the weekend or your next vacation? Even if you don't buy that there's a real purpose to life, riding things out, playing it safe and waiting for "someday" to live your life is heartbreaking. You're here for a reason.

Where many of us fail is we give up before we even start. It's too hard, takes too much time, it's too complicated, where do I even start? Begin by showing up, rain or shine and never stop. The challenging part and the reason change doesn't happen as often as it should is that we get distracted. Today's urgent is more urgent than yesterday's important.

What is it like to experience unconditional love? The answer is empathy. We have a choice to understand a viewpoint before giving our own. This is our ability to lead by taking the time to understand the other person's view and feel what they feel.

The only way of putting the mind at ease is letting go of the desire to want it to be different. My mind seldom knows what it means to be well rested. Thoughts leap from idea to idea. It's exhausting. There's no "Go The Fuck To Sleep" kill switch for a creative brain.

You don't have enough time to be unhappy and mediocre. Your leadership was needed yesterday. Sitting in a job you hate because you get sweet benefits and perks will never equate to happiness. Day-in and day-out, those perks that string you along become the rock around your ankles. You fall dependent to the luxuries they provide. Your dreams fall to the rearview mirror, while task after task piles on. Each more painful than the last.

A journey signifies an act of travelling from one place to another. What story pops to mind? A heroic adventure ripe with danger? Journey's have a climactic "we've made it." I'm arguing that we've already arrived. This is it. This is the only moment we're alive. Despite our endless attempts at planning the future, every moment other than the present is a gift. Do you treat it like the most beautiful thing you've ever experienced in the world? It is. If it's anything like mine, you've experienced pain.
