Today Is A Damn Good Day To Be Alive

It's 6 pm. The sun is fading behind a canopy of trees, a beautiful glimmer reflects off the water. A gentle wind brings Kashagawigamog Lake to life. Writing grounds my thoughts. It whisks me away from my far gone anxiousness and back to the present moment. I know this.

What do you know to be true but still fail to act on? In the act of writing for thirty consecutive days, I am not trying to acquire new information. I am attempting to form new habits. This requires time and persistence and daily application.

In establishing new habits, ask yourself how and when you plan to take action. Don't do the natural thing, the impulsive thing. Chasing the thoughts of yesterday and the fears of tomorrow. Today is our most precious possession.

Dale Carnegie wisely shared, "the best possible way to prepare for tomorrow is to concentrate with all your intelligence, all your enthusiasm, on doing today's work superbly today. That is the only possible way you can prepare for the future."

Do I tend to put off living in the present in order to worry about the future, or to yearn for some "magical rose garden over the horizon?"
